About this role
This role as Head of Services is a permanent, full-time position. We particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of hate crime and discrimination.
If you’re an experienced leader with a deep commitment to human rights, equality and justice, this might be the role for you. As our new Head of Services, you’ll help shape and deliver our frontline support, education, training, and outreach work. You’ll provide strategic oversight and operational leadership across all service areas, ensuring that victims of hate crime receive the support they deserve, while helping communities build resilience, cohesion, and understanding.
You’ll join our Senior Leadership Team and play a vital role in the continued growth and development of our organisation. Reporting to the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees, you’ll work across our casework, training, community engagement and development services—guiding teams, developing partnerships, and driving impact across the Avon and Somerset area.
The role will focus on:
- Leading the delivery and quality assurance of our casework, advocacy, education and training services.
- Supporting and developing staff teams, promoting good communication and upholding SARI’s values in everything we do.
- Identifying trends in hate crime and helping shape proactive, preventative responses.
- Representing SARI externally at events, forums and in the media—ensuring our work is visible, valued and strategically positioned.
- Supporting fundraising, business development, policy development, and effective internal systems.
You’ll need to be highly organised, with excellent people management and communication skills. You’ll be comfortable navigating complex and sensitive issues, and confident in building strong relationships with a range of partners. Experience of working with diverse communities and tackling discrimination is essential.
As Head of Services, no two days will be the same—but every day will matter. You’ll need to be flexible with your time, but we’ll make sure you get it back when you do. Some evening and weekend working will be required.

- 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) rising by an additional day for each year of service to a maximum of 30 days
- Hybrid working
- Flexible working
- External group supervision
- External 1-to-1 trauma-informed supervision
