On 10th August, Elon Musk, CEO of X (formerly Twitter), posted a racist and Islamophobic image and caption. This incident is just one example of the harmful content that the platform has allowed to perpetuate, which goes against the very values we stand for.
As an organisation committed to combating systemic racism, we cannot continue to engage on a platform that endorses or enables such harmful behaviour. We have decided to join the movement initiated by the Racial Justice Collective, which calls for individuals and organisations to leave X in protest of the platform’s failure to address and eliminate racist content.
On 16th August at 6pm, we will delete our profile from X. This decision reflects our refusal to tolerate a platform that not only harbours but also amplifies hate and incitement to violence.
