Across the city and beyond
At SARI, much of the work we do is only possible thanks to the funding we receive from Bristol City Council and the National Lottery Community Fund. Their support means we can lead and develop two essential projects, Bristol Hate Crime and Discrimination Services and Every Victim Matters.

Bristol Hate Crime and Discrimination Services
We lead Bristol Hate Crime and Discrimination Services, working in partnership with five other organisations; Bristol Mind, Brandon Trust, Off The Record, Resolve West and Bristol Law Centre.
This innovative service was launched in 2017 and is funded by Bristol City Council. It has been really effective in encouraging people from different communities and backgrounds to come forward to report hate crime. Our partnership means we’re in a great position to react to a wide range of needs and issues – some of them increasingly complex.
Every Victim Matters
Thanks to grants from the National Lottery Community Fund, we’re able to support people in the mainly rural areas of Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and Somerset who are dealing with hate crime.
Launched in 2015, Every Victim Matters provides a free, specialist casework service for victims of all types of hate crime. Our Outreach Workers recruit and train up a network of local residents and agency workers to become allies. They are also building strong relationships with Diversity Trust and Swan Advocacy to help us deliver training, education and empowerment sessions – and reach out to even more LGBTQ+ and disabled people who face hate crime.
Did you know?
In 2020 we had 136 referrals across B&NES, North Somerset and Somerset, and supported 238 victims of hate crime. Sadly, this included working with a family whose loved one was lost to a racist murder in Weston-super-Mare.
